SurfMail: Mailbox full
Validity
This guide is valid for Consumer Mail.
These instructions apply to SurfMail.
What does "mailbox full" mean?
When you send or receive emails, these messages are stored in the mailbox on our servers. This memory is limited. So if you exchange a lot of emails and don't delete old emails regularly, it can happen that your mailbox is full. With a full mailbox it is no longer possible to create, send or receive emails. Delete unwanted and no longer needed emails to make room for new messages again.
"Create "space
You can manage your e-mails via the webmailer or via an e-mail program of your choice. Depending on the email program, different functions are availabl.
Email export / download
You have the possibility to export your messages additionally. This is useful if you want to save messages for later use or if you are unsure whether you will need the message at some point.
Via Webmailer you can mark the desired messages in the respective folder and download them via "Download".
Important: The folders must be exported individually. So if you need not only the messages from the inbox but for example sent messages or have created a folder, you have to download the donwload for these folders separately.
Note: If you use Outlook, you can export your entire mailbox (or only the folders you want) in a single file.
Delete messages
You can delete your unwanted and no longer needed messages via webmail or your email program. Remember that deleted messages are usually just moved to the "Deleted" folder, where they continue to occupy the space of your mailbox. So delete the messages from the "Deleted" folder as well. This will delete the messages permanently and the storage space will be available again.
Arrangements
There are several precautions you can take to avoid a "full inbox" again.
Unsolicited spam and advertising
Do you regularly receive spam or unwanted advertising? Via my.green.ch portal you can specify individual e-mail addresses or entire domains from which you no longer wish to receive e-mails. The e-mails from these addresses will be rejected in the future and will no longer be delivered to your mailbox.
Unsolicited newsletter
You can unsubscribe from newsletters. A corresponding "unsubscribe" link is located at the end of the newsletter. If the link is missing or an "unsubscribe" does not achieve the desired success, you can deal with newsletters in the same way as with "unwanted spam mails and advertising".
