Green is celebrating its 30th anniversary: from internet pioneer to company with international appeal
Lupfig, April 22, 2025 – This year Green is celebrating its 30th anniversary and with it an impressive development: An internet provider from the get-go, the company has now become a national provider of broadband internet and hosting services for private individuals and businesses. With four locations in Switzerland, Green has also established itself as a leading data center provider and a strategic partner for companies and cloud providers.
Three decades of innovation and growth
Since its founding, Green has been able to recognize new technologies early on and consistently translate them into solutions for a networked, secure digital future. Continuous expansion of the internet and hosting business has been achieved through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. One important milestone is the recently announced partnership with Salt, which now gives Green unparalleled fiber network coverage. Green offers access to the networks of Swisscom, Salt, and more than 80 local providers. “We have established a customer- and market-oriented offering that focuses on service quality and customer satisfaction,” says Roger Süess, CEO of Green. Under the anniversary motto “30 years happy with Green”, the company is launching campaigns and competitions as a show of gratitude to new and existing customers.
Data centers as the foundation of the digital future
Green recognized the potential of data centers early on: Indeed its first data center sites were set up way back in 2002. Today, the company operates six high-performance data centers at four locations and is the only provider in Switzerland with the internationally recognized M&O Stamp of Approval from the Uptime Institute – the leading standard for the operation and management of mission-critical data centers.
“Data centers are the backbone of digitalization – for companies, the economy, and society," says Franz Grüter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Green. The expansion is set to continue: Two new data centers are currently being built in Dielsdorf and another in Lupfig. “We’re creating the infrastructure on which digital Switzerland can grow,” explains Roger Süess, adding: “Digitalization is here to stay – and it requires an infrastructure that is efficient, sustainable, and secure."
