How is Green preparing for the future?
Roger Süess, where will Green be operating in five years’ time? How many new data centers are in the pipeline?
We’ve grown rapidly over the last few years and that’s set to continue going forward, too. We’ve, of course, also got our eye on neighboring countries; there are certainly some regions closer to home that could interest us. If growth continues to develop at the current rate, this will basically mean the following for us: as things stand, we’ve got four locations and six data centers in Switzerland, with three more to be added by 2026. In two to three years’ time, we’ll have doubled our capacity and implemented further campus projects. .
You see the future of data center providers as positive, but also as extremely challenging. How would you assess Green’s development and chances of success over the coming years?
What gets me excited time and again is the fact we have “brand Switzerland” on our side, which puts us in a great position both domestically and further afield. Aspects such as the high quality standards we set ourselves, customer focus, pioneering spirit and Switzerland’s innovative strength are what set us apart. We attach great importance to the close cooperation we have with our customers, but also with the various municipalities, partners in the ecosystem and all other stakeholders. Thanks to our proximity, we enjoy their trust and keep the lines of communication open. This is a great help when it comes to implementing our ambitious plans. Having solid roots in society is very important to us. Green celebrates its 30th birthday next year. We started out as pioneers and have no plans to change – because innovation is in our DNA.
We’ll need to draw on all of our pioneering spirit and innovative strength in the months and years ahead. How will we deal with technological developments? How will we remain innovative? How will we build for the future? How can we best contribute to society? How will we use energy sustainably? We were the first company in the telecommunications industry to use 100% sustainable power and the first to use recycled aluminum for facades, and so may it continue: pioneering, innovative and responsible. I’m convinced that we’ll master the challenges ahead: we’re on the right track and exploiting our opportunities.
What are you excited about?
I’m excited about the future, about the technological opportunities, about the growth and about sustainably shaping this future together with my team as part of the Swiss success story.
